Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK FOR CURRENT DTC
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Connect CONSULT and check for other existing "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
Is P2150-00 DTC current?
YES
GO TO 2 .
NO
Refer to Intermittent Incident .
- INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR CONNECTOR PINS
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect fuel injectors 2, 3, 5, and 8.
- Inspect connector for the following:
- Loose connector.
- Corroded pins.
- Bent or broken pins.
- Pushed back or expanded pins.
- Moisture in or on the connector.
- Missing or damaged connector seals.
- Dirt or debris on or in the connector pins.
- Connector shell broken.
- Wire insulation damage.
- Damaged connector locking tab.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 3 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK THE FUEL INJECTOR RESISTANCE
Check the resistance value across the two pins of each of the injectors 2, 3, 5, and 8. Refer to step 2 in Component Inspection .
Does the component pass the inspection?
YES
GO TO 4.
NO
Replace the malfunctioning fuel injector. Refer to (cylinder 1 or 3) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 1 and CYLINDER 3) , (cylinder 2 or 4) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 2 and CYLINDER 4) , (cylinder 5 or 7) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 5 and CYLINDER 7) , (cylinder 6 or 8) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 6 and CYLINDER 8) .
- CHECK FOR INJECTOR SHORT CIRCUIT CYLINDER 2
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Unplug the #2 injector harness connector from the top of the injector.
- Start the engine.
- Using CONSULT, check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
Did DTC P0202-00 become current and DTC P2150-00 become past?
YES
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Cylinder #2 fuel injector circuit has been identified as the source for the DTC. The root cause could be the cylinder #2 fuel injector, cylinder #2 harness circuit, or ECM. Continue with component inspection and harness inspection of just cylinder #2 circuit.
NO
Perform DTC confirmation procedure. If P2150 is still active, continue to step 5.
- CHECK FOR INJECTOR SHORT CIRCUIT CYLINDER 3
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Reconnect injector #2.
- Unplug the #3 injector harness connector from the top of the injector.
- Start the engine.
- Using CONSULT, check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
Did DTC P0203-00 become current and DTC P2150-00 become past?
YES
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Cylinder #3 fuel injector circuit has been identified as the source for the DTC. The root cause could be the cylinder #3 fuel injector, cylinder #3 harness circuit, or ECM. Continue with component inspection and harness inspection of just cylinder #3 circuit.
NO
Perform DTC confirmation procedure. If P2150 is still active, continue to step 6.
- CHECK FOR INJECTOR SHORT CIRCUIT CYLINDER 5
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Reconnect injector #3.
- Unplug the #5 injector harness connector from the top of the injector.
- Start the engine.
- Using CONSULT, check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
Did DTC P0205-00 become current and DTC P2150-00 become past?
YES
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Cylinder #5 fuel injector circuit has been identified as the source for the DTC. The root cause could be the cylinder #5 fuel injector, cylinder #5 harness circuit, or ECM. Continue with component inspection and harness inspection of just cylinder #5 circuit.
NO
Perform DTC confirmation procedure. If P2150-00 is still active, continue to step 7.
- CHECK FOR INJECTOR SHORT CIRCUIT CYLINDER 8
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Reconnect injector #5.
- Unplug the #8 injector harness connector from the top of the injector.
- Start the engine.
- Using CONSULT, check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
Did DTC P0208-00 become current and DTC P2150-00 become past?
YES
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Cylinder #8 fuel injector circuit has been identified as the source for the DTC. The root cause could be the cylinder #8 fuel injector, cylinder #8 harness circuit, or ECM. Continue with component inspection and harness inspection of just cylinder #8 circuit.
NO
Perform DTC confirmation procedure. If P2150-00 is still active, continue to step 8.
- INSPECT ECM AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect the ECM.
- Inspect connectors for the following:
- Loose connector.
- Corroded pins.
- Bent or broken pins.
- Pushed back or expanded pins.
- Moisture in or on the connector.
- Missing or damaged connector seals.
- Dirt or debris on or in the connector pins.
- Connector shell broken.
- Wire insulation damage.
- Damaged connector locking tab.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 9 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK INJECTOR 2 SIGNAL AND DRIVER CIRCUITS FOR SHORT
Check injector 2 signal and driver circuits for continuity between the ECM connector and battery post.

NO
Repair or replace the engine harness.
- PERFORM FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST
- Connect all harness connectors.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Use Commercial Service Tool J-54442 to perform the next step.
- Using CONSULT, select "ENGINE" and perform the "Fuel Injector Drain Flow Test" on bank 2. Refer to High Pressure Fuel Injector Return Flow Test
Does each fuel injector meet the specification in injector drain flow test?
YES
GO TO 14 .
NO
Replace the malfunctioning injector(s). Refer to (cylinder 1 or 3) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 1 and CYLINDER 3) , (cylinder 2 or 4) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 2 and CYLINDER 4) , (cylinder 5 or 7) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 5 and CYLINDER 7) , (cylinder 6 or 8) Removal and Installation (CYLINDER 6 and CYLINDER 8) .
- CHECK FOR CURRENT DTC
- Start the engine.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Connect CONSULT and check for current "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
Is P2150-00 DTC current?
YES
Replace ECM. Refer to Removal and Installation .
NO
GO TO 15 .
- ERASE DTCS
- Connect CONSULT and erase "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
- Operate the engine within the "Conditions for Clearing the DTC".
- Using CONSULT, check for current "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
Is P2150-00 DTC current?
YES
Return to diagnostic procedure. Refer to DTC Description .
NO
Repair complete.
