Diagnosis Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC PRIORITY 
    1. Turn ignition switch ON.
    2. Connect CONSULT and check for other existing "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.

    If DTC P205C-00 or P205D-00 is current or past, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for these other DTCs first.

    Any of the above DTCs detected?

    YES

    1. P205C-00 is detected. Refer to DTC Description .
    2. P205D-00 is detected. Refer to DTC Description .

    NO

    GO TO 2 .

  2. CHECK FOR OTHER RELATED DTCS 

    If DTC P0111-00 or P0116-00 is current or past, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for these other DTCs first..

    Any of the above DTCs detected?

    YES

    1. P0111-00 is detected. Refer to DTC Description .
    2. P0116-00 is detected. Refer to DTC Description .

    NO

    GO TO 3 .

  3. VERIFY THE DEF TANK TEMPERATURE SENSOR ACCURACY 
    1. Disconnect the DEF supply pump assembly connector.
    2. Verify the accuracy of the after treatment DEF tank temperature sensor.
      • Measure the temperature of the after treatment DEF in the tank with an infrared thermometer or thermocouple.
      • Using CONSULT, select "Engine" and check "Data Monitor" of after treatment DEF tank temperature sensor (after of and before after treatment) "Urea Tank Temp" to evaluate.
      • Compare the CONSULT reading to the value measured with the infrared thermometer or thermocouple.

    Is the CONSULT DEF tank temperature reading within 5.6°C (10°F) of the measured value?

    YES

    GO TO 4 .

    NO

    Replace the after treatment DEF tank level/temperature/quality sensor with DEF pump. Refer to Exploded View .

  4. CHECK FOR CURRENT DTC 
    1. Connect all harness connectors.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Using CONSULT, erase "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
    4. Operate the engine within the "Conditions for Clearing the DTC".
    5. Using CONSULT, check for current "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.

    Is P205E-00 DTC current?

    YES

    Return to Diagnosis Procedure. Refer to DTC Description .

    NO

    Repair complete.
