Removal and Installation: Removal

- Remove steering wheel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove steering column covers. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect harness connector (A) from shift interlock.
- Disconnect harness connector (B) from steering column (if equipped).
- Disconnect harness connector from combination switch.
- Disconnect harness connector from spiral cable
- Disconnect harness connector from steering angle sensor.
- Separate wiring harness from steering column and position wiring harness aside.
- Remove instrument lower panel LH. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove knee protector. Refer to Exploded View .
- If equipped with mechanical steering column, secure tilt/telescope control lever with a cable tie (A) through hole in lever (B) and around steering column (1) as shown.
- Disconnect A/T shift selector control cable from steering column. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove nut (A) and pinch bolt (B) from steering column joint.CAUTION: Do not reuse nut.
- Release collar lock tabs (A), then separate intermediate shaft (1) from steering column joint (2) in direction shown (

- Remove steering column nuts (A).
- Remove steering column bolt (A), then remove steering column from vehicle.
- Inspect collar (A) on intermediate shaft (1).CAUTION: If collar is damaged or separates from intermediate shaft, collar must be replaced.
