CATALYST : Removal & Installation: Removal

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the front exhaust tube. Refer to Exploded View .
- Remove the catalyst gusset.
- Remove the EGR inlet tube heat shield. Refer to EGR SYSTEM : Exploded View .
- Remove the bolts securing the EGR inlet tube to the catalyst.
- Disconnect the harness connector from the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1.
- Remove the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 (1) using a suitable tool.CAUTION:
- Do not damage air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1.
- Discard any air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 which has been dropped from a height of more than 0.5 m (19.7 in) onto a hard surface such as a concrete floor; replace with a new one.
- Remove the catalyst heat shield.CAUTION: Do not reuse catalyst heat shield bolts.
- Loosen catalyst nuts in reverse of the sequence shown.
- Remove the catalyst.CAUTION: Do not reuse catalyst gasket.
- Remove the studs (if necessary).CAUTION: Do not reuse studs.
