CATALYST : Removal & Installation: Removal

  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Remove the front exhaust tube. Refer to Exploded View .
  3. Remove the catalyst gusset.
  4. Remove the EGR inlet tube heat shield. Refer to EGR SYSTEM : Exploded View .
  5. Remove the bolts securing the EGR inlet tube to the catalyst.
  6. Disconnect the harness connector from the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1.
  7. Remove the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 (1) using a suitable tool.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not damage air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1.
    • Discard any air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 which has been dropped from a height of more than 0.5 m (19.7 in) onto a hard surface such as a concrete floor; replace with a new one.
  8. Remove the catalyst heat shield.
    CAUTION: Do not reuse catalyst heat shield bolts.
  9. Loosen catalyst nuts in reverse of the sequence shown.

  10. Remove the catalyst.
    CAUTION: Do not reuse catalyst gasket.
  11. Remove the studs (if necessary).
    CAUTION: Do not reuse studs.
