Diagnosis Procedure

Fuel gauge will not indicate from a certain position.

1. CHECK COMBINATION METER INPUT SIGNAL 

   Perform component function check. Refer to Component Function Check .

   Does monitor value approximately match fuel gauge reading?

   YES

   GO TO 2.

   NO

   Replace combination meter. Refer to COMBINATION METER : Removal & Installation .

2. CHECK FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUITS 

   Check the fuel level sensor circuits. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure - FWD Models or Diagnosis Procedure - AWD Models .

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES

   GO TO 3.

   NO

   Repair or replace harness or connectors.

3. CHECK FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT 

   Check the fuel level sensor unit. Refer to Component Inspection - FWD models or Component Inspection - AWD models .

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES

   GO TO 4.

   NO

   Replace fuel level sensor unit. Refer to FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT, FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY : Removal & Installation (FWD models) or FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT, FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY : Removal & Installation (AWD models).

4. CHECK FLOAT INTERFERENCE 

   Check that the float arm does not interfere with or binds to other components in the fuel tank.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES

   Check intermittent incident. Refer to Inspection .

   NO

   Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.
