Front Parking Brake Cable Replacement (Cable A)

- Release the parking brake, and remove the adjusting nut (A).
- Remove the driver's side front door sill trim and the kick panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS ).
- Remove the center console (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the footrest (see step 2 under CARPET REPLACEMENT ).
- Pull back the carpet from the driver's footwell to access the parking brake cables.
- Disconnect the return spring (A), then disconnect both rear parking brake cables (B) from the equalizer (C).
- Remove the five bolts and one nut holding the front parking brake cable to the floor.
- Remove the parking brake cable adjusting hardware, then remove the cable.NOTE: If necessary, remove the parking brake pedal assembly (see PARKING BRAKE PEDAL REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the new cable in the reverse order of removal.
- Do the parking brake adjustment (see PARKING BRAKE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT
).NOTE: Do the Major Adjustment first, then do the Minor Adjustment. Apply the parking brake firmly 10 times then adjust it again.
