DTC 61-2x: ("X" Can Be 0 Thru 9 Or A Thru F) Short In the Driver's Seat Belt Buckle Switch

NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed. (See COMPONENT REPLACEMENT/INSPECTION AFTER DEPLOYMENT ).
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES and General Troubleshooting Information (see DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES) ).
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS (see CLEAR THE DTC MEMORY ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and unbuckle the driver's seat belt several times.
- Check for the DTCs with the HDS (see READING THE DTC
).
Is DTC 61-2x indicated?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES ). if another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the floor wire harness.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS (see CLEAR THE DTC MEMORY ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for the DTCs with the HDS (see READING THE DTC
).
Is DTC 61-2x indicated?
YES - Short to ground in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness then clear the DTC.
NO - Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch; replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly (see FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE ), then clear the DTC.
