RES disc does not play

NOTE:
  • Check the vehicle battery condition first BATTERY TEST ).
  • Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the RES.
  • CD-R/RWs and DVD-R/RWs do not work in the DVD player unit (built into the audio-navigation unit).
  • Damaged or contaminated discs may not play properly.
  • Discs with labels should not be used in the DVD player unit (built into the audio-navigation unit). They may damage the player mechanism.
  • You need to switch the audio-navigation unit REAR PWR button on for the rear display, remote controls, and sound to operate.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  2. Try loading a DVD. If the disc does not load, see RES disc does not load  troubleshooting

    Does the DVD play (display and sound)? 

    YES  -Intermittent failure, the DVD player unit (built into the audio-navigation unit) is OK at this time.

    NO  -Go to step 3.

  3. Insert a known-good DVD.

    Does the DVD play (display properly and sound normal)? 

    YES  -The original DVD is faulty or is an unreadable format.

    NO  -Go to step 4.

  4. Do the self-diagnostic function  , then select function number 1 for Connect of the rear entertainment system

    Is the audio-navigation unit connect condition OK? 

    YES  -Go to step 5.

    NO  -Repair the poor connection in the audio-navigation unit connectors.

  5. Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ), and recheck the audio-navigation unit.

    Is the sound normal? 

    YES  -Replace the original audio-navigation unit AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

    NO  -Check for loose terminals or poor connections at audio-navigation unit connectors, and recheck.
