DTC 83: PGM-FI Malfunction
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 86 indicated with DTC 83 at the same time?
YES -Do the DTC 86 troubleshooting (see DTC 86: F-CAN COMMUNICATION MALFUNCTION ).
NO -Go to step 3.
- Check for fuel and emissions systems DTCs with the HDS (see
GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION
).
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES -Do the applicable troubleshooting for the PCM.
NO -Go to step 4.
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then start the engine.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 83 indicated?
YES -Go to step 7.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting (see INTERMITTENT FAILURES ).
- Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software (see VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT UPDATE ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then start the engine.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 83 indicated?
YES -Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present/replace the VSA modulator-control unit (see VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
NO -If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCS TROUBLESHOOTING .
