Check Before Engine Is Started

  1. Park vehicle on flat surface. Move gearshift lever to "P" position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. The O/D OFF indicator light should come on for about 2 seconds. If O/D OFF indicator light comes on, go to next step. If O/D OFF indicator light does not come on, see O/D OFF INDICATOR LIGHT  under CIRCUIT TESTS.
  2. If O/D OFF indicator flickers for about 8 seconds, perform self-diagnosis. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If not, go to next step.
  3. Perform self-diagnosis. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Record DTCs. Go to CHECK WITH ENGINE IDLING  procedure.
