Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect transmission terminal cord assembly 8-pin connector located on right side of transmission. Measure resistance between transmission terminal cord assembly 8-pin connector terminal No. 6 and ground. Resistance should be 2.5-5.0 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to step 3. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
- Remove valve body assembly. See appropriate SERVICING article. Check line pressure solenoid valve. See SOLENOID VALVES under COMPONENT TESTS. Check transmission terminal cord assembly for short or open. Repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect TCM harness connector. Measure resistance between transmission terminal cord assembly 8-pin connector terminal No. 6 and TCM harness connector terminal No. 2. Resistance should be about 11.2-12.8 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to step 5. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
- Check dropping resistor. See DROPPING RESISTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary. If dropping resistor is okay, check for open or short between transmission terminal cord assembly 8-pin connector terminal No. 6 and TCM harness connector terminal No. 2. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check for open, short to ground and short to voltage between transmission terminal cord assembly 8-pin connector terminal No. 6 and TCM harness connector terminal No. 1. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If open or short is found in circuit, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step.
- Perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE . If DTC is still present, recheck applicable TCM input/output signals. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If any voltage measured is not as specified, check TCM connector pin terminals for damage or loose connection to harness connector. Repair as necessary.
