Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove valve body assembly. See appropriate SERVICING article. Check shift solenoid valve "A" and "B" operation. See SOLENOID VALVES  under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair or replace shift solenoid valve assembly as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
  2. Disassemble valve body assembly. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. Ensure valves, sleeve and plug slide along valve bore under their own weight, and are free of burrs, dents and scratches. Ensure control valve springs are free from damage, deformation and fatigue. Repair valve body assembly as necessary. Go to next step.
  3. Road test and perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE . If DTC is still present, recheck valve body assembly. Repair or replace as necessary.
