Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Inspect voltage on PNP switch circuits at TCM harness connector. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . Repair as necessary. Check harness and connectors for opens or shorts to ground between ignition switch and PNP switch, and between PNP switch and TCM. If continuity exists for all circuits, go to next step. If continuity does not exist for any circuit, inspect and repair circuit(s) as necessary.
  2. Inspect PNP switch. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary.
  3. Road test and perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE . If DTC is still present, recheck applicable TCM input/output signals. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If any voltage measured is not as specified, check connector pin terminals for damage or loose connection to harness connector. Repair as necessary.
