Line Pressure Test Results

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra, 2002 Infiniti G20, 2001 Nissan Sentra, and 2001 Infiniti G20. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If line pressure is low at idle in all selector lever positions, possible causes are oil pump wear, control piston damage, pressure regulator valve or plug sticking, spring for pressure regulator valve damaged, or fluid pressure leakage between strainer and pressure regulator valve.
  2. If line pressure is low at idle in a particular shift position, possible causes are fluid pressure leakage between manual valve and a particular clutch. If line pressure is low in "R" and "1" position, but is normal in "D" and "2" position, fluid leakage exists at or around low-reverse brake circuit.
  3. If line pressure is high at idle, possible causes are TP sensor misadjusted, fluid temperature sensor damaged, line pressure solenoid sticking or shorted, sticking pressure regulator or plug, modifier valve sticking or open in dropping resistor.
  4. If line pressure is low at stall speed, possible causes are TP sensor misadjusted, line pressure solenoid valve sticking or shorted, pressure regulator or plug sticking, or modifier valve or pilot valve sticking.
