DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra, 2002 Infiniti G20, 2001 Nissan Sentra, and 2001 Infiniti G20. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR mode for A/T.
  2. Road test vehicle and check for increase of Vehicle Speed Sensor 2 (VHCL/S SE.MTR) value. If VHCL/S SE.MTR value does not increase, see SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT/MTR  under COMPONENT TESTS. If VHCL/S SE.MTR value increases, go to next step.
  3. NOTE: Driving vehicle uphill will help maintain conditions needed for this test.
  4. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR mode for ENGINE. Road test vehicle with selector lever in "D" position with overdrive on. Maintain vehicle speed of more than 19 MPH and TP sensor voltage of more than 1.2 volts for at least 5 seconds. If test result is okay, go to next step.
  5. NOTE: Driving vehicle uphill will help maintain conditions needed for this test.
  6. Road test vehicle with selector lever in "D" position with overdrive on. Maintain Camshaft Position Sensor Reference Signal (CMPS RPM) of 3500 RPM or more and TP sensor voltage more than 1.2 volts for at least 5 seconds.
