DTC Confirmation Tests "B" & "C"

Malfunction "B" is detected when either one-degree signal or 180-degree signal is not sent to ECM often enough. Malfunction "C" is detected when the relationship between one-degree signal and 180-degree signal is out of normal range. Possible causes are:
- Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Defective CMP sensor.
- Defective starter.
- Faulty starting system circuit.
- Weak battery.
To set DTC, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Start engine and let it idle for at least 2 seconds. If first trip DTC is detected, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
