DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

To set DTC, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Wait at least 10 seconds. If first trip DTC is detected, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

NOTE: Perform procedure for Malfunction "A"  and Malfunction "B"  first. If first trip DTC cannot be confirmed, perform procedure for Malfunction "C"  .
NOTE: If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.

Malfunction "A": & Malfunction "B":

  1. Turn ignition on and wait at least 1 second.
  2. Select DATA MONITOR with Scan Tool.
  3. Shift transmission into "D" position (A/T) or 1st position (M/T) and wait at least 2 seconds.
  4. If first trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 

Malfunction "C":

  1. Turn ignition on and wait at least 1 second.
  2. Select DATA MONITOR with Scan Tool.
  3. Shift transmission into "D" position (A/T) or 1st position (M/T) and wait at least 2 seconds.
  4. Shift transmission to "P" or "N" position.
  5. Start engine and allow to idle for 3 seconds.
  6. If first trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
