Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Measure voltage between ground and ECM connector terminal No. 66 (White/Blue wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check fuse and fusible link box (left front engine compartment) 15-amp fuse No. 36 and replace if necessary. If fuse is OK, check intermediate connector in circuit for damage and repair or replace as necessary. If intermediate connector is OK, repair open or short circuit in White/Blue wire and perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  to verify repairs.
  2. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLESHOOTING - NO CODES article. If no problem exists, erase DTC and perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If first trip DTC is detected, go to next step. If problem exists, check fuse and fusible link box (left front engine compartment) 15-amp fuse No. 36 and replace if necessary. If fuse is OK, check intermediate connector in circuit for damage and repair or replace as necessary. If intermediate connector is OK, repair open or short circuit in White/Blue wire and perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  to verify repairs.
  3. Turn ignition off. Replace ECM. Perform the following:
