DTC Confirmation Test "B"

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
NOTE: Always perform test at a temperature of more than 14°F (-10°C)

With CONSULT-II

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Select EGR VOL CONT/V in ACTIVE TEST mode with CONSULT-II. Hold engine speed at 1500 RPM.
  2. Press "Qu", and set EGR-VCV opening to 50 percent. EGR TEMP SEN should decrease to less than one volt. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
  3. Turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition on. Start engine. Maintain the following conditions for at least 5 consecutive seconds:
    • ENG SPEED: 1200-3600 RPM.
    • VHCL SPEED SE: 6 MPH or more.
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 4.5-8.0 msec.
  4. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.

With Generic Scan Tool

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Select MODE 1 with scan tool.
  2. Maintain the following conditions for at least 5 consecutive seconds:
    • Engine speed: 1200-3600 RPM.
    • Vehicle speed: 6 MPH or more.
  3. Select MODE 7 with scan tool. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
