On-Vehicle Deployment (Scrapped Vehicle)

WARNING:
Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Disconnect deployment tool from deployment battery before connecting deployment tool to air bag module or seat belt pretensioner connector.

Deploy only one air bag module or pretensioner at a time.

- Park vehicle outdoors with at least 20 feet (6 m) of open space around vehicle. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Place a fully charged 12-volt battery 16 feet (5 m) from vehicle.
- Connect Deployment Tool (J38381) to appropriate air bag module or seat belt pretensioner. For passenger-side air bag module, use Deployment Tool Adapter (J38381-65) to connect deployment tool to air bag module. For driver-side air bag module, head impact air bag modules and seat belt pretensioners, use Deployment Tool Adapter (J38381-80) to connect deployment tool to seat belt pretensioner. For side air bag module, use Deployment Tool Adapter (J44230) to connect deployment tool to side air bag module.
- Connect Red clip of deployment tool to battery positive terminal and Black clip to negative terminal. Light on right side of deployment tool (deployment tool power) should glow Green. Touch deployment tool button. Left light will glow Green and air bag module will deploy.
