DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Maxima and 2002 Infiniti I35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with scan tool. Crank engine for at least 2 seconds and run it for at least 5 seconds at idle speed.
  2. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, go to next step.
  3. Maintain engine speed at more than 1000 RPM for at least 5 seconds. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
