Removal & Installation (Front)

CAUTION:
When cylinder body is open, DO NOT depress brake pedal, or piston will pop out.
- Remove master cylinder reservoir cap. DO NOT let brake fluid reservoir overflow when pushing piston back. Remove lower sliding pin bolt. Pivot caliper off on remaining sliding bolt and hang caliper with wire. Remove pad retainers, shims and pads. See Fig 1 & Fig 2 . Push piston in using a disc brake piston tool.
- To install, apply brake grease to the back of the pad and both sides of the shim, install the inner shim to the inner pad, and the outer shim and outer shim cover to the outer pad.
- Apply disc brake grease to the pad contact surface on the pad retainer, and install the pad retainers and pads to the torque member. Install cylinder body to the torque member. Install the lower sliding pin bolt, and tighten it to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check for brake drag. Perform road test to ensure proper brake operation. See BRAKE BURNISHING .
