DTC Confirmation Test

Malfunction is detected when PCM calculation function is malfunctioning. Only possible cause is a faulty PCM.

Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Start and run engine for at least 30 seconds at idle speed. If first trip DTC is sets, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If first trip DTC is not set, problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
