DTC Confirmation Test "B"
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Engine coolant temperature must remain less than 194°F (90°C) during confirmation test "B".
Malfunction "B" is detected when PCM receives an incorrect voltage from IAT sensor, compared to Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor voltage. Possible causes are:
- IAT sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Defective IAT sensor.
Ensure engine is cold. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Start engine and test drive vehicle at 44 MPH for 105 consecutive seconds. If DTC is set, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC is not set, problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
