Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor harness connector. See Figure -Figure . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Black wire) at IAT sensor harness connector. See Fig 2 . If voltage is about 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 5 volts, repair open or short in Yellow/Black wire between IAT sensor and PCM, then retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) at IAT sensor harness connector. Continuity should exist. Also check circuit for short to voltage. If problem exists, repair as necessary and retest system. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between IAT sensor terminals (component side), with sensor at specified temperatures. See IAT SENSOR RESISTANCE table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace IAT sensor and retest system.
- No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
