DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If DTC confirmation procedure had been previously run, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before continuing.

Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with scan tool. Wait at least 5 seconds. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.

Steps  3 and  4 may be conducted with the drive wheels lifted in the shop or by driving the vehicle. If a road test is expected to be easier, it is unnecessary to lift the vehicle.

  1. Start engine (TCS switch OFF).
  2. Select "DATA MONITOR" mode with scan tool.
  3. Drive the vehicle for at least 5 consecutive seconds under the following conditions:
    • VHCLSPEEDSE More than 19 MPH (30 KM/H).
    • Selector lever In a suitable position.
    If DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC is not detected, go to next step.
  4. Drive the vehicle for at least 5 consecutive seconds under the following conditions:
    • VHCLSPEEDSE More than 19 MPH (30 KM/H).
    • Selector lever In a suitable position.
    • Depress the brake pedal for more than five seconds, without causing vehicle to exceed other limits.
  5. If DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
