DTC Confirmation Procedure "B"

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Altima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

With CONSULT-II

  1. Turn ignition switch ON.
NOTE: If engine cannot be started, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
  2. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
  3. Select "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT-II.
  4. Check voltage of "MAS A/F SE-B1" with "DATA MONITOR".
  5. Increase engine speed to about 4000 RPM.
  6. Monitor the linear voltage rise in response to engine speed increases, see Fig 1.
  7. Maintain Conditions shown for at least 10 seconds, see Fig 2.
  8. If DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

Using GST

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
  2. Select "MODE 1".
  3. Check the mass air flow sensor signal with "MODE 1".
  4. Check for linear mass air flow sensor signal value rise in response to increases to about 4000 RPM in engine speed. See Fig 3.
  5. If "NG", go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
