Preliminary Check

  1. Attempt to activate on-board diagnostics mode. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  . If on-board diagnostics mode can be activated, go to next step. If on-board diagnostics mode cannot be activated, go to step  3 .
  2. Check meter/gauge operation in on-board diagnostics mode. If no faults are indicated, go to NO FAULT INDICATED IN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS MODE  . If a fault is indicated, go to step  4 .
  3. Check warning light operation. If warning lights do not operate properly, perform POWER SUPPLY & GROUND CIRCUIT CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If warning light operation is okay, check screws securing speedometer. Repair as necessary. Attempt to activate on-board diagnostics mode. If on-board diagnostics mode can be activated, go to step  2 . If on-board diagnostics mode cannot be activated, replace speedometer (unified meter control unit).
  4. Check screws securing meter/gauge. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, go to FAULT INDICATED IN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS MODE  .
