Fuel Gauge Test: Van

  1. To check power source, turn ignition switch to "ON" position. Check voltage between terminal No. 11 and ground. If there is 12 volts, go to step 3).
  2. If there is not 12 volts, check for blown fusible link or fuse. Check harness continuity between battery terminal and combination meter. Check for malfunctioning ignition relay and/or ignition switch.
  3. To check voltage output, measure voltage between terminal "F1" and ground. See Fig 1 . If there is not about 8 volts, replace voltage regulator. If there is 8 volts, connect a jumper wire between terminal "F2" and ground for less than 10 seconds.
  4. Fuel gauge should move smoothly from "EMPTY" to "FULL". If it does not, replace fuel gauge. If it does, perform FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT TEST  . If sending unit is okay, repair or replace harness between combination meter and fuel gauge unit harness.
