- Perform SIGNAL CHECK . If results are not okay, replace control unit. If results are okay, perform POWER UNIT CHECK . To check power unit output voltage to speed sensor, measure voltage between terminal No. 16 (+) and No. 18. If reading is anything except zero ohms, proceed to step 4.
- If results are not okay, check power unit and speed sensor connecting harness for short circuiting. To do so, disconnect wire harness connector from power unit. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between terminal No. 18 and No. 16 of harness connector to power unit.
- Resistance should read anything but zero. If zero reading is obtained, harness is bad. If harness is bad, replace harness and power unit. If harness is okay, replace power unit.
- Perform SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK to measure speed sensor output. If results are not okay, check wire harness between meter and speed sensor. If harness is okay, replace power unit. If results are okay, check speedometer cable.
