Q: Is the check result normal?
YES: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
NO <Only ECALL speaker has abnormality>: Go to Step 2.
NO <Only front door speaker (RH) has abnormality>: Go to Step 4.
NO <Both of ECALL speaker and front door speaker (RH) have abnormality>: Go to Step 8.
- Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-IIISE)
."
- STEP 2. Check ECALL speaker.
- Remove the ECALL speaker (Refer to ECALL SPEAKER ).
- Check that the ECALL speaker outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 volts is applied to the ECALL speaker connector terminal.
Q: Do the ECALL speaker output the noise?
YES: Replace the ECALL speaker (Refer to ECALL SPEAKER ).
NO: Go to Step 3.
- STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the ECALL relay box assembly connector (ESO-, ESO+ terminals).
- Disconnect the ECALL relay box assembly connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Check the resistance between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (ESO- terminal) and (ESO+ terminal).
OK: 1.5 - 70 ohms
- Check the resistance between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (ESO+ terminal) and body ground.
OK: No continuity
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES: Replace the ECALL relay box assembly (Refer to ECALL RELAY BOX ASSEMBLY ).
NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 4. Voltage measurement at the ECALL relay box assembly connector (IG, GND terminals).
- Disconnect the ECALL relay box assembly connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Turn the ignition switch from OFF position to ON position.
- Check the voltage between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (IG terminal) and (GND terminal).
OK: The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES: Correct the IG line circuit or GND circuit of the ECALL relay box assembly.
NO: Go to Step 5.
- STEP 5. Check front door speaker (RH).
- Remove the front door speaker (RH) (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE ).
- Check that the ECALL speaker outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 volts is applied to the ECALL speaker connector terminal.
Q: Do the front door speaker (RH) output the noise?
YES: Replace the front door speaker (RH) (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE ).
NO: Go to Step 6.
- STEP 6. Resistance measurement at the ECALL relay box assembly connector (terminals No. 11, 12).
- Disconnect the ECALL relay box assembly connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Check the resistance between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (DSO+ terminal) and (DSO- terminal).
OK: 1.5 - 70 ohms
- Check the resistance between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (DSO+ terminal) and body ground.
OK: No continuity
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES: Go to Step 7.
NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 7. Voltage measurement at the ECALL relay box assembly connector (RLE1, RLE2 terminals).
- Disconnect the ECALL relay box assembly connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Turn the ignition switch from OFF position to ON position.CAUTION: Execute item No. 4 "Door speaker check (Beep)" in the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) special function "Test", and measure the voltage.
- Check the voltage between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (RLE1 terminal) and body ground.
OK: Approximately 5 volts
- Check the voltage between the ECALL relay box assembly connector (RLE2 terminal) and body ground.
OK: Approximately 5 volts
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES: Replace the ECALL relay box assembly (Refer to ECALL RELAY BOX ASSEMBLY ).
NO: Replace the TCU (Refer to TCU ).
- STEP 8. Resistance measurement at the TCU connector (SPO+, SPO- terminals).
- Disconnect the TCU connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Check the resistance between the TCU connector (SPO+ terminal) and (SPO- terminal).
