Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Required Special Tools: 

  1. STEP 1. Scan tool CAN bus diagnostics 

    Using scan tool MB991958, diagnose the CAN bus lines.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines. (Refer to TROUBLESHOOTING .) After repairing the CAN bus line, go to Step 2.
  2. STEP 2. Scan tool data list. 

    Shift lever item No. 1: Lever position (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE  ).

    1. Confirm that "Manual" is displayed when the shift lever position is in the manual mode.
    2. Confirm that "+" is displayed when the shift lever position is upshifted and held, and "-" is displayed when the shift lever position is downshifted and held.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 3.
    2. NO:  Replace the shift lever assembly. (Refer to >> A << TRANSAXLE CONTROL CABLE (TRANSAXLE SIDE/SHIFT LEVER SIDE) INSTALLATION .)
  3. STEP 3. Retest the system. 

    Q: Does a malfunction take place again? 

    1. YES:  Replace the mechatronic assembly. (Refer to << A >> MECHATRONIC ASSEMBLY REMOVAL .)
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION .)
