WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Verify that the headlights will illuminate when placing a hand over the receiver of the lighting control sensor < Vehicles with lighting control sensor > or LDW-ECU (light sensor) < Vehicles with LDW > under direct sunlight with the ignition switch in the "ON" position and the lighting switch in the "AUTO" position. If there is a malfunction, perform the troubleshooting (Refer to TROUBLE SYMPTOM CHART  ).

NOTE: When covering the lighting control sensor < Vehicles with lighting control sensor > or LDW-ECU (light sensor) < Vehicles with LDW > receiver, be careful not to touch the windshield surface (where the lighting control sensor < Vehicles with lighting control sensor > or LDW-ECU (light sensor) < Vehicles with LDW > receiver is mounted). (The lighting control sensor < Vehicles with lighting control sensor > or LDW-ECU (light sensor) < Vehicles with LDW > receiver has limited resistance to oil.)
