Inspection Procedure B-7: Liftgate sensor signal is not received: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for approximately 30 seconds.
- Check the signals related to the power liftgate operation.
Q: Is the check result normal?
All are normal.: Go to Step 7.
Normal condition is not displayed for items 9 and 10.: Go to Step 2.
Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 9.: Go to Step 3.
Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 10.: Go to Step 5.
- STEP 2. Check of open circuit in TSG line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate sensor (LH) and (RH) connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 3. Liftgate sensor (LH) check.
Check the liftgate sensor (LH) (refer to LIFTGATE LATCH CHECK ).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Replace the liftgate sensor (LH).
- STEP 4. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in TSL line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate sensor (LH) connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 5. Liftgate sensor (RH) check.
Check the liftgate sensor (RH) (refer to LIFTGATE LATCH CHECK ).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 6.
- NO: Replace the liftgate sensor (RH).
- STEP 6. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in TSR line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate sensor (RH) connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 7. Check of the troubles
Check that the liftgate sensor signal is received normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- NO: Replace the power liftgate control unit.
