Inspection Procedure B-7: Liftgate sensor signal is not received: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list 
    1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for approximately 30 seconds.
    2. Check the signals related to the power liftgate operation.
      • Liftgate sensor (left): OFF → ON
      • Liftgate sensor (right): OFF → ON
        Item No. Item name Normal conditions
        Item 9 Touch sensor (left) OFF → ON
        Item 10 Touch sensor (right) OFF → ON

        OK: Normal conditions are displayed for all the items. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    All are normal.:  Go to  Step 7.

    Normal condition is not displayed for items 9 and 10.:  Go to Step 2.

    Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 9.:  Go to  Step 3.

    Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 10.:  Go to  Step 5.

  2. STEP 2. Check of open circuit in TSG line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate sensor (LH) and (RH) connector. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to  Step 7.
    • NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  3. STEP 3. Liftgate sensor (LH) check. 

    Check the liftgate sensor (LH) (refer to LIFTGATE LATCH CHECK  ).

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 4.
    • NO:  Replace the liftgate sensor (LH).
  4. STEP 4. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in TSL line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate sensor (LH) connector. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to  Step 7.
    • NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  5. STEP 5. Liftgate sensor (RH) check. 

    Check the liftgate sensor (RH) (refer to LIFTGATE LATCH CHECK  ).

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 6.
    • NO:  Replace the liftgate sensor (RH).
  6. STEP 6. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in TSR line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate sensor (RH) connector. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 7.
    • NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  7. STEP 7. Check of the troubles 

    Check that the liftgate sensor signal is received normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal?
