Inspection Procedure B-5: Neutral switch signal is not received: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Neutral switch inspection 

    Check the liftgate latch (refer to LIFTGATE LATCH CHECK  ).

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 2.
    • NO:  Replace the liftgate latch.
  2. STEP 2. Resistance measurement at liftgate latch connector (neutral switch ground line terminal). 
    1. Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
    2. Measure the resistance between liftgate latch connector (neutral switch ground line terminal) and body ground.

      OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less). 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to  Step 4.
    • NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Check of open circuit in ground line between liftgate latch connector (neutral switch terminal) and body ground. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to  Step 6.
    • NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  4. STEP 4. Check of open circuit in NTL line between power liftgate control unit connector and liftgate latch connector. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 5.
    • NO:  Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
  5. STEP 5. Check of the troubles 

    Check that the neutral switch signal is received normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

  6. STEP 6. After the replacement of liftgate latch, recheck the trouble symptom. 
    1. Replace the liftgate latch.
    2. Check that the neutral switch signal is received normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  The procedure is complete.
    • NO:  Replace the power liftgate control unit.
