Inspection Procedure 3: When the CANCEL Switch is Pressed, Cruise Control is not Cancelled: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Check the data list. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
    1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)  ."
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Using M.U.T.-III, check the data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE  ).
      • Item 75: CANCEL switch
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Check the cruise control switch system (Refer to DIAGNOSIS CODE PROCEDURES, CODE NO. P0578: ABNORMAL VOLTAGE AT CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH  ). Then go to  Step 3.
  2. STEP 2. Check the symptom. 

    Q: When the CANCEL switch is pressed, is the cruise control cancelled? 

    1. YES:  It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
    2. NO:  Replace the ECM (Refer to ECM < 2.4L ENGINE >, ECM < 3.0L ENGINE >). Then go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Check the symptom. 

    Q: When the CANCEL switch is pressed, is the cruise control cancelled? 

    1. YES:  The procedure is complete.
    2. NO:  Return to  Step 1.
