DTC P1574: ECM and Its Related Components: Diagnosis

STEP 1. Check the MFI system diagnostic trouble code.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), perform MFI system diagnostic trouble code (Refer to DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION < 2.4L ENGINE >, DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION < 3.0L ENGINE >).
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is any diagnostic trouble code stored?
1. YES: Repair the MFI system (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART < 2.4L ENGINE >, DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART < 3.0L ENGINE >). Then go to Step 3.
2. NO: Go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Read the diagnostic trouble code.
1. Use the scan tool (M.U.T.-III), erase the diagnostic trouble code of the cruise control system.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, and press the cruise control ON/OFF switch to turn the cruise control system to ON (the cruise control indicator lamp < standard meter > or the cruise control display screen < high contrast meter > is turned on).
3. After turning the cruise control system to ON, when 2 minutes or more has elapsed without operating the cruise control switches, read the diagnostic trouble code of the cruise control system (Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS ).
Q: Is diagnostic trouble code No. P1574 stored?
1. YES: Replace the ECM (Refer to ECM < 2.4L ENGINE >, ECM < 3.0L ENGINE >). Then go to Step 3.
2. NO: It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
STEP 3. Read the diagnostic trouble code.
1. Use the scan tool (M.U.T.-III), erase the diagnostic trouble code of the cruise control system.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, and press the cruise control ON/OFF switch to turn the cruise control system to ON (the cruise control indicator lamp < standard meter > or the cruise control display screen < high contrast meter > is turned on).
3. After turning the cruise control system to ON, when 2 minutes or more has elapsed without operating the cruise control switches, read the diagnostic trouble code of the cruise control system (Refer to CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS ).
Q: Is diagnostic trouble code No. P1574 stored?
1. YES: Return to Step 1.
2. NO: This procedure is complete.
