Inspection Procedure 5: Malfunction of power supply circuit system: Diagnosis
- STEP 1. Check of the fuse No.13 and No.15.
Visually check that ETACS-ECU fuse Nos. 13 and 15 are not blown.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. Check the wiring harness between electronic control coupling solenoid connector and AWD-ECU connector terminal SOL+.
Check the power supply, ground line for short circuit (for short to the power supply).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness wire and/or connector(s), and then replace fuse No. 13. Then go to Step 19.
- STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between electronic control coupling solenoid connector and AWD-ECU connector terminal SOL-.
Check the power supply, ground line for short circuit (for short to the power supply).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness wire and/or connector(s), and then replace fuse No. 13. Then go to Step 19.
- STEP 4. Check of the electronic control coupling solenoid
Refer to CHECK OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL COUPLING .
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness wire and/or connector(s), and then replace fuse No. 13. Then go to Step 19.
- STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector and AWD-ECU connector terminal 4WDF
Check the power supply for short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 6.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness wire and/or connector(s), and then replace fuse No. 13. Then go to Step 19.
- STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector and AWD-ECU connector terminal IG16
Check the power supply for short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Replace the fuse Nos. 13 and 15. Then go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness wire and/or connector(s), and then replace fuse No. 15. Then go to Step 19.
- STEP 7. Voltage measurement at ETACS-ECU connector
Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal +B1 and body ground at the wiring harness side.
OK: System voltage
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 9.
- NO: Go to Step 8.
- STEP 8. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector terminal IG16 and fusible link No.2
Check the power supply for short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 9. Voltage measurement at the ETACS-ECU connector
- Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal IG1 and body ground at the wiring harness side.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: System voltage
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 11.
- NO: Go to Step 10.
- STEP 10. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector terminal IG1 and J/C(2).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 11. Voltage measurement at the AWD-ECU connector
Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal 4WDF and body ground at the wiring harness side.
OK: System voltage
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 13.
- NO: Go to Step 12.
- STEP 12. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector terminal 4WDF and AWD-ECU connector terminal 4WDF.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 13. Voltage measurement at the AWD-ECU connector
- Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal IG16 and body ground at the wiring harness side.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: System voltage
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 15.
- NO: Go to Step 14.
- STEP 14. Check the wiring harness between ETACS-ECU connector terminal IG16 and AWD-ECU connector terminal IG16.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 15. Measure the resistance at the AWD-ECU connector.
- Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Resistance between AWD-ECU connector terminal GND1 and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 17.
- NO: Go to Step 16.
- STEP 16. Check the wiring harness between AWD-ECU connector terminal GND1 and body ground.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 17. Retest the system.
Q: Does the malfunction occur again?
- YES: Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ETACS ). Then go to Step 19.
- NO: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS ).
- STEP 18. Retest the system.
Q: Does the malfunction occur again?
- YES: Replace the AWD-ECU (Refer to AWD-ECU ). Then go to Step 19.
- NO: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS ).
- STEP 19. Retest the system.
Q: Does the malfunction occur again?
- YES: Return to Step 1.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
