Inspection Procedure 2: Shifting the drive mode selector does not Change the Mode: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) data list.
Check the following data list. (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).
- Item 1: AWC (AWD) control mode
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. Follow combination meter trouble symptom procedure 9 "The combination meter light does not illuminate normally or the multi-information display is not displayed normally."
Refer to SYMPTOM PROCEDURES .
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Repair it. Then go to Step 3.
- STEP 3. Retest the system.
Q: Does the malfunction occur again?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
- STEP 4. Resistance measurement between the drive mode selector connector terminals
- Remove the drive mode selector (Refer to AWD-ECU ).
- Measure the resistance between the terminals (Refer to AWD-ECU ).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- STEP 5. Wiring harness check
- Check the wiring harness between the AWD-ECU connector (terminal SW-1) and the drive mode selector connector.
- Check the connector(s) or terminal(s) or wiring harness above for damage or other problem.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 6.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or terminal(s) or wiring harness. Then go to Step 7.
- STEP 6. Resistance measurement at the drive mode selector connector
- Disconnect the drive mode selector connector.
- Measure the resistance between the drive mode selector wiring harness side connector and the body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 7.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or terminal(s) or wiring harness. Then go to Step 7.
- STEP 7. Retest the system.
Q: Does the malfunction occur again?
- YES: Replace AWD-ECU (Refer to AWD-ECU ).
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
