Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. STEP 1. Measure the resistance at the AWC-ECU connector. 
    1. Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
    2. Resistance between AWC-ECU connector terminal SOL+, SOL- and body ground

      OK: No continuity 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to  Step 3.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 2.
  2. STEP 2. Check the wiring harness between electronic control coupling solenoid (center) connector and AWC-ECU connector terminal SOL+, SOL-. 

    Check the power supply or ground line for short circuit.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to  Step 4.
    2. NO:  Repair the defective connector or the wiring harness.
  3. STEP 3. Check of the electronic control coupling (center) 

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE .

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4.
    2. NO:  Replace the electronic control coupling (center). (Refer to ELECTRONIC CONTROL COUPLING ).
  4. STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. C1628 stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the AWC-ECU (Refer to AWC-ECU < Vehicles with S-AWC >  ). Then go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
  5. STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is stored again. 

    Q: Is DTC No. C1628 stored? 

    1. YES:  Return to  Step 1.
    2. NO:  This diagnosis is complete.
