Diagnostic Procedure

  1. STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics 

    Use the scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines. (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE .)
  2. STEP 2. Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to confirm a DTC of other systems. 

    Check if the ETACS-ECU stores a DTC.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Diagnose the ETACS-ECU. (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. ETACS-ECU coding data check 

    Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check if any abnormality is present in the coding data below which is stored in the ETACS-ECU.

    Final drive 

    OK < FWD vehicles >: Front Drive 

    OK < AWD vehicles >: AWD FF Base 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4.
    2. NO:  Repair the coding data. If repair is impossible, replace the ETACS-ECU.
  4. STEP 4. DTC recheck 

    Check again if the DTC is stored in the TCM.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
    3. Check if the DTC is stored.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the TCM.
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction.
