Diagnostic Procedure

  1. STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics 

    Use the scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines. (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE .)
  2. STEP 2. Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to confirm a DTC of other systems. 

    Check if a coding-related DTC is stored in the ETACS-ECU.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Diagnose the ETACS-ECU. (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .)
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. DTC recheck 

    Check again if the DTC is stored to TCM.

    1. Erase the DTC.
    2. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
    3. Check if the DTC is stored.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Replace the TCM.
    2. NO:  Intermittent malfunction.
