Inspection Procedure 8: Voice Guide "Unable To Obtain Vehicle Speed - Please Try Again Or Contact Your Dealer For Service" Is Sent From The Speaker < Vehicles With Radio And CD Player >: Diagnosis

Required Special Tools: 

  1. STEP 1. Check the combination meter. 

    Check whether the speed meter works normally. (Refer to SPEEDOMETER CHECK .)

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

  2. STEP 2. Using scan tool MB991958, diagnose the CAN bus line. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
    1. Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)  ."
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Diagnose the CAN bus line.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

    Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal? 

  3. STEP 3. Using scan tool MB991958, read the radio and CD player diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if DTC is set to the radio and CD player.

    Q: Is the DTC set? 

  4. STEP 4. Check the diagnosis mode 

    Check if the hands free module can be switched to the diagnosis mode. (Refer to DIAGNOSIS MODE < VEHICLES WITH RADIO AND CD PLAYER >  .)

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

  5. STEP 5. Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check the trouble symptom. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Replace the hands free module.
    • NO:  Replace the radio and CD player.
