Test D: Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Does Not Work

  1. Check speedometer. If speedometer is not operating normally, see SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK  . If speedometer is working normally, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor connector. Connect DVOM between ground and engine coolant temperature sensor harness side connector terminal No. 1 (Green wire) on Montero or (Yellow/Blue wire) on Montero Sport. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is less than 9 volts, check engine temperature sensor connector and harness wiring. Repair or replace as necessary. If voltage is 9 volts or more, go to ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE  under COMPONENT TESTS.
