35 31 000 Removing and installing or replacing clutch pedal (Cooper S, Cooper base)

Preliminary work needed  :

• Remove BEARING BRACKET .

Press connector clips (1) together and remove.

Push the clutch pedal completely.

Press the return spring (1) upwards and lever out from the clutch pedal.

Destroy outer bearing bushings (1) with a screwdriver (2).

Press the remaining of the destroyed bearing bushing (1) inwards and destroy completely and take out.

Push the clutch pedal (1) completely in the direction of the destroyed bearing bushing.

Take out clutch pedal (1) in the direction of the arrow from the other bearing bushing.

Preparation for the installation  :

Replace bearing bushing (1).

Parts  : Bearing bush

Grease the clutch pedal on the running surfaces in the bearing bushings with grease NBU 12K (BMW/MINI Part Number: 83 23 9 407 810)  .

Installation  :

Insert the bearing bushing (1) and push in the direction of the arrow in the bearing bushing.

Insert new bearing bushing (1) in the direction of the arrow till stop.

Bearing bushing (1) must be felt and heard to engage.

On the inner side ensure, that the bearing bushing (1) is locked completely.

Push the clutch pedal completely.

Press the return spring (1) upwards and install in the clutch pedal.

Insert and lock the securing pins (1) in the arrow direction.

Required follow-up work  :

• Install BEARING BRACKET .
