34 00 046 Vent braking system (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)
Preliminary work needed :
- Read and comply with GENERAL NOTES .
- Removing front windshield panel cover.
Attention!
Do not reuse drawn out brake fluid.
Always use MINI-approved brake fluids, refer to MINI OPERATING FLUIDS .
Attention!
To guarantee a correct vent of the brake system, observe the following:
- Top up the brake fluid in the expansion tank to the lower edge of the thread (1) with new brake fluid.
- Vent the hose of the bleeder unit before connecting.
Connect bleeder unit (1) on expansion tank and switch on.
Attention!
Please observe Owner's Manual of the respective equipment manufacturer.
Charging pressure should not exceed 2 bar.
Fully flush the rear axle brake system.
Connect venter hose with collecting tray to venter valve on rear right brake caliper.
Open venter valve and purge until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
Close bleed valve.
Tightening torque 34 00 1AZ .
Carry out the same procedure on the rear left wheel brake.
Fully flush the front axle brake system .
Connect venter hose with collecting tray to venter valve on front right brake caliper.
Open venter valve and purge until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
Close bleed valve.
Tightening torque 34 00 1AZ .
Carry out the same procedure on the front left wheel brake.
Operate the button for the electric parking brake and release again, then operate again and release again.
Fully flush the rear axle brake system .
Connect venter hose with collecting tray to venter valve on rear right brake caliper.
Open venter valve and purge until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
Close bleed valve.
Tightening torque 34 00 1AZ .
Carry out the same procedure on the rear left wheel brake.
Attention!
If after this procedure there is still air present in the brake system (insufficient brake pedal force), the following procedure applies:
- Perform the brake bleeding procedure service function in the BMW diagnostics and information system according to the instructions .
Switch off bleeder unit and remove from expansion tank.
Check brake fluid level. If necessary, top up/draw off to maximum level.
Close expansion tank.
Required follow-up work :
- Install the front cowl panel cover.
