41 32 031 REPLACE THE A-PILLAR ON THE OUTSIDE LEFT IN THE AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD REP-REP-RAF6041-4132031 - V.2 (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV)

Remove or cover vehicle parts located in the repair area that are in danger due to heat or dust.
For the repair, only use approved SPOT WELDERS !
Attention!
Operations on pyrotechnical devices may only be carried out by authorized experts.
Improper, unauthorized operations may result in serious dangers.
Unauthorized persons are strictly prohibited from performing any operations on this system.
Failure to observe correct procedures can deploy the airbag and cause injuries.
A damaged head airbag must be replaced.
A damaged head airbag is limited in its protective function or can, in extreme cases, no longer perform its protective function.
Necessary preliminary work
Disconnect battery ground lead. Refer to 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY GROUND LEAD REP-REP-RAF5661-6120900 - V.8 (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV) .
Remove the BODY PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
The following new parts are required (see Electronic Parts Catalog):
- Side frame, outer
Removal
Loosen blind rivet (1) and remove deformation element (2).
Release blind rivet (3).
Release clamp (4).
Attention!
The exact procedure must be carried out as specified in the repair instructions for removing and installing the HEAD AIRBAG !
Release wiring harness (5) at attachment points and lay to one side.
Attention!
Follow the procedure REPLACING BLIND RIVET .
Check protective sleeve for damage prior to use.
A damaged protective sleeve must not be used.

Attention!
Risk of damage!
Airbag must not be kinked or bent!
Push the protective sleeve (1) onto the airbag up to just below the roofliner so that the airbag is completely covered.
Fasten protective sleeve with Velcro fastener (2).
Secure protective sleeve and airbag against kinking.
Mark severance cuts (1) in accordance with schematic diagram and cut.
Attention!
Cut through outer panel only for severance cuts.
Release the welded connections in the areas (2).
Release partial section of A-pillar from cavity sealing (3) and remove.
New part preparation
Mark severance cuts on new parts in accordance with vehicle and cut.
Prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATES at separating cuts.
Installation
Apply sealant to cavity sealing. Refer to INSTALLING CAVITY SEALING (EXPANDED) REP-REP-RAGRP41-4107101 - V.2 (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV) (1). Install cavity sealing.
Install new parts and reinforcement plates and weld to designated area (2).
Attention!
Risk of damage!
Airbag must not be kinked or bent!
Open Velcro fastener (2) and remove protective sleeve (1).
Secure wiring harness (5).
Fasten airbag using clamp (4) and blind rivet (3).
Attention!
The exact procedure must be carried out as specified in the repair instructions for removing and installing the HEAD AIRBAG !
Secure deformation element (2) using blind rivet (1).
Required follow-up work:
Connect battery ground lead. Refer to 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY GROUND LEAD REP-REP-RAF5661-6120900 - V.8 (Countryman 2017-2023, except PHEV) .
Install the BODY PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
