51 16 041 Removing and installing/replacing protective cap on left or right outside rearview mirror

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Unlock the protective cap using a small screwdriver (1) through the bores (see arrows).

Unlock the protective cap with a slight tug clockwise on the retaining lugs (2).

Remove protective cap (1).

Installation: 

The detents (1) on housing (2) must not be damaged.

Install the protective cap (1) and engage it on all the detents through pressure.
