12 51 240 Replacing the engine sensor system module 2 wiring harness section (B36, B38)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Release expanding rivet and remove mounting for gasket (1).

Release screw and remove tension strut (1).

Unclip and remove cover (1).

Unlock and disconnect all connectors (1) on control unit.

Remove partition wall (1).

Unlock and disconnect following connectors and lines  Note 
Unlock and disconnect connector from DME control unit  
Release connector from intake camshaft sensor and pull off  
Release connector from hot film air mass meter and pull off  
Release connector from high pressure sensor and pull off  
Release connector from exhaust camshaft sensor and pull off  
Unlock connector on high pressure pump and disconnect  
Unlock connector of monitoring sensor and pull off  
Release connector from control sensor and pull off  
Unlock connector on exhaust turbocharger and disconnect  
Unlock connector on heating element and disconnect  

Release wiring harness from clips and retainers.

Feed out wiring harness and remove.

Installation: 

Route and install wiring harness.

Plug in all connectors as specified in table.

All connectors must audibly engage.

Install partition wall (1).

Join tension strut (1) and tighten with screws.

Tightening torque 61 21 5AZ .

Connect all connectors (1) to control unit.

All connectors (1) must engage audibly.

Installation note: 

Connect connectors from front to rear.

Install cover (1).

Join mounting for gasket (1) and secure with expanding rivet.
