12 51 210 Replacing wiring harness section for injectors and ignition coils (B38)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Disconnect BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
Remove ACOUSTIC COVER
Remove left and right cowl panel cover. See REMOVING LEFT COWL PANEL COVER and REMOVING RIGHT COWL PANEL COVER .

Removal:

Partially detach seal (1).

Open locks by turning anti-clockwise.

Release screws (2) and remove battery cover (3).

Unclip and remove cover (1).

Unlock and disconnect all connectors (1) on control unit.

Remove sound insulation from high pressure pump.

Unlock and disconnect following connectors and lines	Note
Unlock and disconnect connector from DME control unit
Release connector from ignition coils and unplug
Release and pull off connector from injectors

Release wiring harness from clips and retainers.

Feed out wiring harness and remove.

Installation:

Route and install wiring harness.

All connectors must audibly engage.

Connect all connectors (1) to control unit.

All connectors (1) must engage audibly.

Installation note:

Connect connectors from front to rear.

Install cover (1).

Join battery cover (3) and tighten screws (2).

Tightening torque 61 21 6AZ .

Turn locks up to limit position against direction of arrow.

Join gasket (1) and press down firmly.

Install sound insulation for high pressure pump.
